Jakarta Disdik Plans to Implement Reading Program for Students

Jakarta Education Dept (Disdik) has a plan to implement reading program which demanded students from elementary to high school to read for 15 minutes in order to enhance their interest in reading.

We just need to wait for governor's decision for its implementation

Jakarta Disdik's Junior High School and Senior High School Section Head, Syaefuloh stated, his side cooperates with National Library in implementing this program.

Reading Interest of Children in Jakarta must Be Increased

"We just need to wait for governor's decision for its implementation. This program is not only done to enhance their interest in reading, but also encourage students to visit library," he explained, Monday (10/22).

After governor's decision has been issued, he continued, all public and private schools in Jakarta must require students to read books for 15 minutes before school activity begin.

"We expect to enhance human resources' quality in Jakarta by encouraging them to read a lot," he stated.
